CAST IRON color

I've been inspired by the STEAMFUNK anthology book, edited by Milton Davis and Balogun Ojetade, to make up my own steamfunk character. The basic idea is Cast Iron is a runaway slave who volunteered in the Union Army during the Civil War. As the Union loses the war they decide to try a desperate experiment to create the perfect soldier, by integrating a man with a steam machine. Of course they start with one black soldier and not only is he a success but he works too good. Cast Iron destroys entire Confederate regiments by himself. The US government thinks this maybe a bad idea and has Cast Iron de-commissioned and locked away in a mine. Years later, in the early 1900s, Cast Iron is revived during a race riot. In the story he helps some young people escape to a new town and learns what it is to be human again.
