Hey Fam, here I am with my friend and Clarion 2012 roomate Ruby (she's a badass writer, I expect her to win a Nebula soon). I'm wearing the Octavia Butler owl necklace that was presented to me as part of my Carl Brandon Society Award. It was commissioned by Octavia Butler herself & the owl was her personal totem. The owl's creator Laurie Toby Edison presented it to me personally. I made the Clarion Foundation President, author Karen J. Fowler cry with my thank you speech.
