Panther is the worlds fastest rookie running back in the manga Eyeshield 21 and is the goodhearted rivaled of the main character Sena.Unfortunately Panther's character is very shallow, and anyone remotely aware of stereotypes will be quickly irritated with Panther's submissive and smiling attitude highly reminiscent of minstrel shows. The author, unaware of race relations in America makes this worse with the relationship Patrick has with his coach.Despite the shades of coonery, Panther is still extremely hard working, highly self-motivated, and his capability is second to none. He also has more integrity than about 95% of the other characters, making him easily likable.In a live action version I'd cast Nate Parker.
