Out of that time spent on the internet, 74% goes to updating a status on social networking sites! People of African Desent consume more media than any other group and in longer durations. So, needless to say, the question arises: WHAT are we watching? and, HOW is it affecting us?" Part of that answer is CONSUMERISM.
Much of the media directed towards black people in America is geared towards purchasing some product or service. And with black spending power expected to reach 1.1 TRILLION by 2015, it appears to be working. But if we wield so much spending power, why do black businesses struggle so much to survive?
Two reasons: Poor Exposure and Lack of Support. Many black owned businesses go unnoticed within their own communities, and without proper funding... Marketing? FORGET ABOUT IT!
Sometimes, people decide to skip by a black owned business knowlingly simply because its "unfamiliar".
