See the Universe (on a budget)

Google has a new experiment called 100,000 stars which creates a digital map of the nearest 100,000 stars placing them in a virtual environment. It includes names and designations for those stars and gives you a view of your stellar neighborhood. It is a great educational tool and a bit of fun for science fiction writers trying to get a grip on the scale of our galaxy. It's humbling: http://workshop.chromeexperiments.com/stars/
