The day Russell Simmons optioned my indie comic book, The Harlem Shadow...I kept hearing ICE CUBE'S "It was a Good day" playing over and over again on my mental ipod. One of my brainchildren had finally made it out of my sketchbook and microsoft word and into the big world of global entertainment. I didn't get rich...yet. I am not automatically the apple of all my peers' eyes...in fact, some of the reactions posted by fellow black creators in the indie black community have been quite hater-licious by people who should know better. But the fact remains that a product that was born and raised in the Black Age Movement of Comics has now been optioned by Russell Simmons with Common slated to supply us with the voice of The Harlem Shadow. Ladies and gentlemen...it was a good day for black comics...especially black superheroes. Check it out...
