Being a self-published author can get pretty expensive, especially when coming up with pre-production capital for things like editing, cover design, layout, printing, marketing, etc. I've been hearing about crowd funding as a way of raising money for projects.

My question is, has anyone done crowd funding? If so, I'd like to know about your experience and any tips.
