About Me:
I'm currently a graphic design undergraduate looking for opportunities to gain experience and expand my horizons, but that's not really why I'm here. I decided to join the society because I've always had unconventional interests, which includes but is not limited to the weirdest and most mind-bending of the sci-fi and fantasy genres. In my most recent contemplation of the subjects, I suddenly became curious about existing communities for them. Of late, as I've continued to mature, I have become increasingly enthralled with the concepts of Afrofuturism and Afrosurrealism. Before I formally understood what they were, I had my own afrofuturist and afrosurrealist ideas and artistic desires. I thought I might try to learn as much as I can about this subject from reading materials, artworks, and films, but also from conversing with other people of like mind. I'm passionate about gleaning what I can here, and about contributing to the creative archive.
How did you find out about this site?
I was reading Afrofuturism by Ytasha Womack, and the site was mentioned in chapter one, "Evolution of a Space Cadet."
