A Manhattan-based playwright, performer, and writer, Sandhi Smalls Santini is author of the science fiction novel, SH+AGUAR, The Night Huntress (Vanguard Press/Pegasus Publishers, Ltd.); and EDISTO ISLAND: Seaside Stories From A Geechee Gal. Born on Edisto Island, South Carolina, Sandhi (aka Sandra L. Smalls) received a BA in Journalism & Theatre Arts from prestigious Howard University, Washington, DC, with subsequent studies in human rights from Columbia University Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, NYC. She is a member of the League of Professional Theatre Women; Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG AFTRA); Society for the Preservation of Theatrical History, and the Harlem Tourism Board. Her writings have been published in The Columbia University Newsletter of the Institute of African Studies; Class Magazine; The Charleston Chronicle Newspaper; and Routes Magazine: A Guide To African-American Culture. Sandhi has performed her original one-woman play, EARTHA-From Cotton To Caviar, inspired by the life and times of entertainer Eartha Kitt, to packed houses and wildly enthusiastic audiences in various Manhattan venues, including the popular Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar Restaurant & Lounge, and The Green Room 42, Broadway’s premier destination for live music and nightclub performances. As a cabaret singer, Sandhi has headlined throughout Europe, the USA, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa. Her singing residencies include the Mandarin Oriental Hotel (The Bamboo Bar), Bangkok, Thailand; Constance Lemuria, and Constance Ephelia, Seychelles, Africa. Other singing residencies include Hilton Hotels in Istanbul, Turkey; Munich and Dusseldorf, Germany; Vienna, Austria; and Budapest, Hungary, as well as other hotels and upscale venues. She has recorded with several Italian record labels.
