Profile Information

About Me:
Much like removing a bandaid I suppose the best way to get through this is to rip it off as quickly as possible, accept the pain and move on:

My name is Derrick Ferguson and I'm from Brooklyn, New York where I've lived most of my life. Married for 25 years to the wonderful Patricia Cabbagestalk-Ferguson who lets me get away with far more than is good for me.

My interests include old radio shows, classic pulps from the 30's/40's, comic books, fan fiction, Star Trek, pop culture, science fiction, animation, television and movies...oh yeah...movies. I'm currently the co-host of the podcast BETTER IN THE DARK where my partner Thomas Deja and I rant and rave about movies on a bi-weekly basis.

My primary love is reading and writing and I've written four books to date: Dillon And The Voice of Odin, my love letter to classic pulp action/adventure with a modern flavor. Derrick Ferguson's Movie Review Notebook and it's sequel The Return of Derrick Ferguson's Movie Review Notebook.
Diamondback Vol I: It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time, a spaghetti western disgused as a modern day gangster/crime thriller.

How I Create My Characters (For Better or For Worse)

First off, I don't think any writer sits down saying: "Today I am going to create a memorable character." Any more than he can sit down and say "Today I am going to write a memorable novel." Only the kindness of readers and the passage of time can judge the memorability of a writer's…

Hey Derrick,

Thanks for the compliment but I've got news for you, I hate my voice too. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to my podcast. As far as the source of the stats of deaths from illegals driving drunk I gather my information from many sources; news papers, radio talk shows, the internet and so forth. i admitt that I'm not 100% correct in all that I say but then it's ment to be commentary and not a factual news cast. I don't usually keep my notes so I can't say where I got the information but I'll bet its not that far off the mark.

As far as American citizens not willing to do certain jobs, as long as we have the freebies like welfare and other programs of course some people will refuse to work. For me, someone who spent fives years as a laborer in the sewer department, at times literially knee deep in human waste, I don't think any honest job should be beneath anyone regardless of race, creed, color or gender.

If I were king everyone would pull his or her own weight or starve or live off of mom or dad. That includes the baby mamas. I know all of the arguments against it, including its not fair for the kids but I grew up poor, not eating half the time, no proper winter clothing, cardboatd in my shoes between my feet and the snow and I and my seven brothers and sisters survived, prospered and are all productive citizens except for one brother who passed away early in life.

So I'm kind of a hards ass when it  comes to people leaching off of the system. It is a basic tenant of human nature if you reward certain behaviors you will certainly get more of it and vice versa, punish it or make life hard and you will get less. Plus when a human being does not earn his or her own way they don't develop real self esteem or self-relieance or self-worth which is one of the biggest problems in the ghetto as far as I'm concerned.

Stay tuned,

 Elbert

Derrick! Great book! I wish I had discovered it back in 2003, but I'm glad I have more books in the series to look forward to. I'll be getting Golden Bell soon. I posted two reviews, one in the Discussion section of BSFS and on Amazon. Keep up the good work!

A group of researchers recently observed a mysterious infrared emission coming from near a pulsar in NASA's Hubble Space telescope data. This animation depicts one possible source of the emission: a "fallback disk" or a disk that formed from materials of the parent star falling back into the neutron star after a supernova. The Enslavement of the "Black Art Movement"

Posted by Turtel Onli on September 19, 2018 at 8:30am 0 Comments

During the heady days of the Black Cultural revolution in Chicago, there was a lot of art dealing with this hope and concept.  The mainstream galleries, Black art curators, historians and critics mostly stayed away from it.  Then once certain major players in this died in came the White parasites.  One a college professor the other a Jewish art dealer.  Both swooped in making deals to sell works, with the other building a entire career path for herself.  Now they are the accepted go-to authorities of this movement. That they treat as a dead slave on their plantations. "The Black Art Movement" now produces no revenue or power for the people it were supposed to benefit.

And all of this happened due to the "Black on Black boycott" that allowed non-Blacks to walk in a take it to the bank.  WHen Black do not support and endorse its own positives others come in later to reap its resources, power & wealth.

Sort of like Jazz, The Blues, Peanut Butter and Hip…

A new uncertainty principle holds that quantum objects can be at two temperatures at once, which is similar to the famous Schrödinger's cat thought experiment, in which a cat in a box with a radioactive element can be both alive and dead. Credit: Shutterstock

Tunable Quantum States...

When the researchers turn an external magnetic field in different directions (indicated with arrows), they change the orientation of the linear electron flow above the kagome (six-fold) magnet, as seen in these electron wave interference patterns on the surface of a topological quantum kagome magnet. Each pattern is created by a particular direction of the external magnetic field applied on the sample.

Republicans: Founded in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists and modernizers, the Republican Party quickly surpassed the Whig Party as the principal opposition to the Democratic Party. In 1860, it came to power with the election of Abraham Lincoln to the presidency. The party presided over the American Civil War and Reconstruction and was harried by internal factions and scandals toward the end of the 19th century. Today, the party supports a conservative platform (from an American political perspective), with further foundations in supply-side fiscal policies,…

Problem is, he suspects Melera, his sexy new flame, might be the serial killer terrorizing Seattle. Or maybe she isn’t.
