E-books and finding a solution that is right for me.

Posted on July 24, 2012 at 2:30am 1 Comment

I'm trying to get away from vendor lock-ins, which includes the kindle. I want to be able to have access to my e-books locally not just in the cloud. I want to be able to use any variation of software or device to read my favorite sci-fi and fantasy books. The Ideal file format would be .epub. Thank you Haneef! Like most of the artists out there trying to sell their wares, it was all about, "look at me", "look at the cool stuff I did!" I finally wanted to separate myself from that pack. Share my thought process, and like you said, give a little something back.

Thank Haneef for recognizing what I was trying to do!

This image shows the NIST logo made from glowing nanowire LEDs. While the color of the nanowires in the image looks blue, they are actually emitting in the ultraviolet with a wavelength of approximately 380 nm. The other two images, from a scanning electron microscope, show the overall structure of the nanowires.

Thin films made of metal nanoparticles (grey spheres) are electrically contacted by gold electrodes. The current flowing through the films (in blue) is adjustable by the voltage of a local electrode located below the film. For the characterization, needle-shaped probes are applied to the electrodes, which provide the corresponding voltages and measure the current. Credit: Christian Klinke, University of Hamburg

THE UNDERGROUND BY ROXANNE BLAND

Life as alpha of a werewolf pack is anything but predictable. But even Parker Berenson is surprised by the latest twist: he’s fallen in love with a space alien.
