Profile Information

About Me:
Writer and Publisher of fiction and non-fiction books. Khafra K Om-Ra-Seti is the author of "World Economic Collapse: The Last Decade and The Global Depression (1994), Bubble Markets and Boom & Bust Cycles: Paradigm Revolutions in the Information Age (2002), and coauthor of Black Futurists in the Information Age: Vision of a 21st Century Technological Renaissance (1997) and author of Capoeira: A Tale of Martial Arts Mastery, Mysticism and Love and "Global Economic Boom & Bust Cycles: The Depression and Recovery of the 21st Century" (2012). In his first novel (sci-fi book), Khafra explores many of his ideas, philosophies and deep interests in the martial arts and African mysticisms. In Capoeira, Khafra combines facts with fiction in a unique story of a Hero’s Journey to achieve mastership in the martial arts. The story spans the course of African history as a timeless metaphor of spiritual evolution and regeneration. Through KMT Publications, he has also published the book "The Life and Work Of Oscar Micheaux" by Earl James Young, Jr. As a visionary and barrier-breaking film maker and author, the legendary Oscar Micheaux is an important person for ALL Black film makers and writers to know.
Khafra has a deep interest in expanding the mental universe of the African experience on this planet; to explore the enormous range of human possibilities once the complete African historical past has been restored. This is the dynamic explosion that will take place in the 21st century; Black people reclaiming countless thousands of years of history and a multitude of stories, both fact and fiction, myth and creative, that will build brighter and stronger realities.

Welcome Brother Khafra! I did a nonfiction piece on Oscar Micheaux about ten years. If I can find it I'll post it. I'm a bag fan of Octavia Butler too -:). Welcome!

I remember you... from back in day... when the Black Speculative Fiction Yahoo forum was THE place to be on the net. Capoeira: A Tale of Martial Arts Mastery, Mysticism and Love, was a great read.

Product Review Updates #2

Posted by Stephen Alexander on June 22, 2018 at 9:06am 0 Comments

Occasionally, I will alert fellow members to product updates by creators I have reviewed in the past year or so.

  • AfroFiTV has released an interesting trailer for Tyranny. It looks like he'll be putting up new episodes this year. Check out the trailer if you want to see some recent SFX work of his.
  • Iam Bennu, artist and mastermind behind The Sunhawks, has completed more works in the series that still look delightfully weird. Here's the link at Comixology
  • Arcellius Scott has a book of starship prototypes out on Amazon right now. Check it out…

Who owns the Harlem Renaissance?

Posted by Turtel Onli on June 22, 2018 at 8:26am 0 Comments

Who owns the rights to most of the material, books, and music, and  posters sold to school systems annually to expouse the values of the "Harlem Renaissance"? Are these publishers and distributors as Black as the content?  Do due royalties go to the hires or estates of the folks served up as creative or historic icons?  Or are these source of revenue leeching massive profits away from the community being educated?

This processing of "the New Negro" is still making money .....but for whom?

Not to mention how this nexus of schools, publishers and distributors, which tends to avoid indie Black owned operations, and pimps Black Culture when it comes to the money.…
