Aquarius at Noonday

An essay I posted yesterday: Aquarius at Noonday. An observation born of my experience as a physics & math teacher; as previously a process, device, manufacturing and product engineer. I consider myself -- a man of a 'certain age' -- one of Sputnik's Children. My fear is this generation's Sputnik moment may be [to use a track metaphor] after the gun, 40 meters to the rear of the rest of the globe, just getting out of the blocks.

Black Hole Cygnus X-1

Black Hole Cygnus X-1 is a double-star system (really, the majority of black holes are found as such systems, literally one collapsed star cannibalizing the other). I have a link to Space.com and a video embed from You Tube at the link above.

The term "black hole" was coined by John A. Wheeler, while a professor at the University of Texas at Austin. Read more on Dr. Wheeler in this NY Times article on his epitaph.

2011 Winding Down....

I've been out of pocket at the 'Society for a minute and apologize for not giving my usual drops of info for my blog and the groups I sponsor. It's been a rough year on the homefront, but in the meantime I managed to knock out a short-story epic, some video productions and getting my third novel 'ready for primetime'. Now that I'm starting to see some daylight, the info drops will pick up in the coming months. That's the nature of the 'creative biz'. In spite of all the distractions and BS from the real world trying to get in the way, you just gotta' keep on creatin'!

day star

I keep my eyes on the day star
Its light reaches through galaxies
It illuminates all dark places
I ramble through dark despair
Striving to reach its glow
Darkness of fear blinds me
But its brilliance lights my way
It is the most lustrous
It makes white of the night sky
Unobscured it shines to me
And like the day star I shine now too

Call for 100 African-American Authors!

Greetings and salutations to one and all.

Examiner.com's National African-American History Examiner put out a call for 100 African-American authors to list on Examiner.com. The list is first come, first serve; last I checked there were about 40 slots available. It would be great to have black sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and sword & soul listed.

There's no cost involved. Click here for more details.

If it be the will of MAAT let this be the beginning of more Light,
I am an artist from New Orleans who just moved out of the Bay Area to Houston Texas.
I opened my eyes while living in Asia and it took about 5 years for the blinding pain of truth to wear off so that I was able to see the truth, and begin to begin the cycle of change.
I am a spatial thinker with divergent concepts. My art involves Abstract art paintings, Digital dark room, Music and Movie concepts. I have always been told to focus my thoughts to create the jewel I now realize that those words were of people who were not as I. They did not realize that some people have to focus there thoughts and some people have to allow their visions to unfold. Lasers are focused light; flowers are scenes of life unfolding. My work creates a living scene that unfolds in the minds spectators developing into seeds of light watered by their convections warmed with their souls and harvested in their thoughts.
I am in dire need of a cartoonist who is able to bring to life my visions. Can we work together? Your swift response is always appreciated.
We were Gods of Amnesia, now Gods of consciousness becoming Gods of Tomorrows future we.
We are the way the truth and the life,
Knovio

The Human Algorithm

Hi everyone, an excerpt from "Prophets 1: Heaven's Adversary".
A diagram of human re-classification that is a dominant story device in my sci-fi trilogy.
Check it the details here on my blog:
http://evilforalltime.blogspot.com/2011/11/human-algorithm.html

Enter Kenneth Neal (you can call me Ken): Age, 29, an activist/journalist, scholarship-winning poet and sci-fi novelist who felt compelled to share his not-to-be-missed experience with readers across the globe.
The premise of this work could be considered the fusion from the likes of Frederick Douglass / Stan Lee / Harvey Milk / Karl Marx. I've been active enough by doing my part to promote social, cultural, and class destruction awareness with my blog.

 http://evilforalltime.blogspot.com

(when you see Karl Marx, you know you've reached the right destination)

The first of three of my flagship titles has been crafted within the Supernatural/Horror/Action category, dealing with global and bizarre anomalies connecting our world to brutal creatures of dwelling within Purgatory. Elements of "Poltergeist", "Cloverfield" and "The DaVinci Code" are heavily prevalent throughout.

The other pertains to a SciFi/Fantasy/Cyberpunk trilogy, involving current and advanced technological theories along with mythological references.   Think "The Fifth Element" fantasy, "X-Men" ambition and "300" grit.  The main focus would center on a new super-villain with vile intentions and great power that is sure to garner high rankings amongst fantasy enthusiasts.

Prophets 1: Heaven's Adversary available on e-books everywhere.

"Evil For All Time" (E-FAT) is my personal manifesto that covers a myriad of topics challenging concepts of eugenics, overpopulation , class warfare, and the numerous metaphysical bonds humans have to Mother Earth. It holds religious and governmental motives accountable for the breakdown of modern society who also set intentional goals to profit from global human misery.

WNWP-TV Honors Heavy D

Heavy D, whose real name was Dwight A. Myers, was a highly respected icon in the Hip Hop/ Entertainment Industry. His contributions to the game in the late 80's and 90's made resounding waves that live on forever. This week WNWP-TV (http://wnwp.tv) pays a special tribute to The Over-weight Lover himself on Soul TV Music Videos, featuring clips of some of his biggest hits and footage of interviews with the artist. Airing @ 10:00pmEST.

Myers was born on May 24, 1967 in Mandeville, Jamaica, the son of Eulahlee Lee, a nurse, and Clifford Vincent Myers, a machine technician. His family moved to Mount Vernon, New York, in the early 1970s,  where he was raised.

Heavy D & the Boyz were the first group signed to Uptown Records; their debut, Living Large, was released in 1987. The album was a commercial success, though Big Tyme was a breakthrough that included four hits. Trouble T. Roy died at age 22 in a fall on July 15, 1990, in Indianapolis. Dixon's death led to a tribute on the follow-up platinum album, Peaceful JourneyPete Rock & CL Smoothcreated a tribute to Trouble T. Roy called "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" which is regarded as a hip-hop classic.

Heavy D & the Boyz gained even more fame by singing the theme song for the television program In Living Color and also MADtv, and Heavy D performed the rap on Michael Jackson's hit single "Jam" as well as sister Janet Jackson's hit single "Alright". Heavy D then began focusing on his acting, appearing in various television shows before returning the music charts with Nuttin' But Love. After appearing in the off-Broadway play Riff Raff at Circle Repertory Company, Heavy D returned to recording with the hit Waterbed Hev. In 1997, Heavy D collaborated with B.B. King on his duets albumDeuces Wild rapping in the song "Keep It Coming." Heavy D was referred to in the song "Juicy" by the Notorious B.I.G., and appeared in his music video for "One More Chance".

In the mid-1990s, Myers became the first rapper to head a major music label, when he became the president of Uptown Records. Myers helped to develop rhythm-and-blues singer Mary J. Blige's career and hired Sean “Diddy” Combs as an intern. He later became the senior vice president at Universal Music.

Heavy D performed at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards in October 2011. It was his first live performance in 15 years. Myers died on November 8, 2011, in Los AngelesCalifornia, at the age of 44. He collapsed outside his Beverly Hills home and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. It has been reported that his death was due to respiratory distress and that no foul play was involved.

SkinwalkerSo, I like it when an author puts race in front of my eyes.  I enjoy visualizing what a character looks like, race and all.  When it's done correctly, the experience can deepen the reader's relationship with the character.  There are some people who say that showing race in this way is racist.  They enjoy reading or writing raceless, race free, or characters of color with little or no physical description. I contend that this approach is racist. Read More
